SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Mastopexy (Breast Lift) (Available Upon Request)

Overview

A mastopexy (breast lift) is a surgical procedure that restores the volume and shape of the breasts through the use of breast implants. As a result, the breasts are perkier and rejuvenated. Women choosing to have a breast lift do not necessarily desire larger breasts but breasts that are better sculpted to their bodies. With a breast lift, the cup size automatically goes up. In addition, Dr Kleintjes repositions the nipple and areola to align with the lifted breast. He may also decide to reduce the size of the areola, depending on your preference.

With age, the skin loses its elasticity and sags, and so do the breasts. Apart from age, breasts droop due to gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding and genetics.

Procedure

Brazilian breast lift

A Brazilian breast lift is an advanced surgical lifting technique that strives to achieve more natural-looking breasts with less visible scars. Unlike the traditional breast lift that uses implants to elevate the breasts, a Brazilian breast lift uses your own tissue through a lollipop incision to augment the breasts.

Lollipop breast lift

The lollipop incision is named after the scar it leaves. The incision is done around the areola and extends down the breast's crease. This is a more suitable technique used on moderately sized breasts. Due to the extent and strategic placement of the cut, there is no need to create any further incisions. As a result, the surgeon works in a tight space but can pull up the skin, lifting the breasts and nipples.

Breast lift using breast implants

Dr Kleintjes can combine a breast lift with augmentation, which means he is able to lift and enlarge the breasts using breast implants. So instead of undergoing two different procedures, you can have a mastopexy and augmentation simultaneously. First, the surgeon elevates and rounds the breasts and finally inserts breast implants to increase the size of the breasts.

Recovery

At least five days later, after you have had the breast lift, you can return to your daily routine. At the time, a compression bra is worn to relieve post-operative pain and promote healing. Swelling and soreness of the breasts will subside within a few weeks. In the meantime, Dr Kleintjes will discourage strenuous exercise and weightlifting until you heal completely.

FAQ

1What is an anchor incision?
An anchor incision is made during a complete mastopexy. An anchor incision is made to lift sagging breasts. An incision is created in a circular motion around the areola and extends vertically to the bottom of the breast, and then runs from side to side in the breast's crease, in the shape of a crescent moon.
2Which is a better option, an anchor or lollipop cut?
A lollipop incision is better suited for moderately sized breasts. A lollipop incision is much less invasive than an anchor cut and involves a faster recovery. A standard breast lift is done through an anchor lift incision and is unsuitable for moderately sized breasts.
3Why do we put breast implants during a mastopexy?
Both mastopexy and augmentation enhance the volume and shape of the breasts. Unfortunately, women consider two procedures at once because they are unhappy about the shape and size of their breasts. Fortunately, a mastopexy using breast implants addresses your dissatisfaction about the size of your breasts.
